Shrimp Run - May, 2008

While we were in Statesboro visiting Charlotte, Bill and Chip; Chip made a fresh shrimp run down to Midway, Georgia just south of Savannah.   Chip has been getting fresh shrimp from this shrimper since his Georgia Forester work took him to the coast quite often.

The big shrimp boat was out and the shrimpers with it so I took a number of pictures that I thought showed the environment where the shrimpers live and where they keep their boats and equipment.  The wooden pier was 200-300 yards long out through a marsh.  We were there at low tide so there was quite a distance between where the shrimper's house was and where his boat was.  His small shrimp boat was at the end of the pier.

These pictures are in no particular order and there are no captions but you will see shots looking out toward where the boats are docked and then back toward where the house is in the line of trees.  There are  a number of pictures of the beautiful oaks with the Spanish moss that are not only picturesque but also utilitarian.  There is on picture that really illustrates why crawfish are call "mud bugs".
