Betsy and her daughters, Charlotte Bates and Cheryl Dorfeld spent a week in a ski condo in Beech Mountain, North Carolina. This outing was designed as a "sew in" and girls retreat and it turned out to be just that. A friend of Charlotte's owns the condo and doesn't rent it out so it was in really great condition
Cheryl drove in her Range Rover and as you will see it was packed to the roof.
Projects included quilt tops, a pair of pants and curtains. They also made matching commemorative sweat shirts. Some rambling around to Beech Mountain, Banner Elk and Boone was accomplished to check out antique shops, restaurants and places of interest. Most of their waking hours were spent at the sewing machines.
When they got there (looking for unit 102) the key didn't fit the door and it seemed to be in the wrong part of the building. They tried a number of doors and the key didn't fit any of them. A number of people had come out on their decks to see why they were going from door to door. About the time the were going to call Charlotte's friend, the president of the condo owner's association came over to see what was going on. He informed the ladies that the condo had just been painted and the letter to 102 had been put back up wrong and it looked like 201.
The sisters took a long walk every afternoon up and down and around the area while Mama stayed home and read.
